We partnered with WWF Germany and SaveSpecies to develop Ocean Detox — the world’s first Metaverse experience designed to drive real-world environmental impact. This immersive play-to-donate platform transforms virtual engagement into tangible ocean cleanup. By purchasing NFT art made from digital trash, users directly fund the removal of plastic waste from marine ecosystems. Built to inspire action and powered by sustainable tech, Ocean Detox proves how product innovation can drive measurable change.
Plastic pollution is choking our oceans. With up to 23 million tons entering marine ecosystems every year, traditional campaigns weren’t moving fast enough to create impact — especially with digital-native audiences. WWF Germany needed a new way to not just inform, but involve people. The mission: create a digital experience that makes ocean cleanup accessible, engaging, and actionable from any device.
We designed and built an interactive virtual world that lets users explore a floating art installation made entirely of digital trash. Each object in the exhibition is a sculptural NFT — and every purchase removes the equivalent weight of real plastic from the ocean. No headset required. Just open a browser, enter the world, and take part.
The platform runs on low-emission blockchain technology (Polygon) to mint and transact NFTs sustainably. Every detail was crafted to blend storytelling, art, and purpose — from ambient whale sounds to data-driven facts about marine pollution. This is not just a Web3 experiment. It’s product development built for purpose, designed to convert clicks into cleanups.
Ocean Detox generated immediate and measurable results:
By merging virtual experiences with real-world outcomes, we helped SaveSpecies launch a global-first platform where play becomes philanthropy. Ocean Detox isn’t a campaign — it’s a blueprint for what impact gaming can do next.
